At this event, ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ Law will celebrate the life and work of Dorothy Day, candidate for sainthood and co-founder of the Catholic Worker Movement—a faith-based, grassroots movement for peace and social justice earned through nonviolent direct action. The evening will feature a fireside chat with Martha Hennessey, Day’s granddaughter, who will offer a unique and personal perspective on her grandmother’s enduring influence and how her commitment to justice, faith and compassion continues to inspire action in today’s world.
This event is presented by the ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ Law Public Interest Faculty Committee, The Center for Peace and Justice Education,ÌýThe John F. Scarpa Center for Entrepreneurship and Law, The St. Thomas of ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ Center for the Common Good and the ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ Law Women’s Network.
During the event, alumni recipients of the ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ Law Dorothy Day Award for Pro Bono Service will be acknowledged and are invited to wear their honor cords for the occasion. A reception will follow from 7:00-8:00 p.m.
